From 17-20 October, the FIA Region I and ARC Europe co-organized the 2023 Road Patrol Training for Excellence in Vrankso, Slovenia, kindly hosted by AMZS (Slovenia).

The Road Patrol Training for Excellence is a yearly event for roadside assistance patrol teams, who are members of the FIA Region I and ARC Europe. The training is a platform for knowledge exchange of best practices and the latest developments in mobility and vehicle repair information.

Teams from 17 European countries participated in this year’s edition. After intensive training and assessments, the ÖAMTC (Austria) team, Leonie Tieber and Markus Resetarits won the title of Best Road Patrol Team of the Year followed by the RACE (Spain) team, Enrique Oshea and Andres Cabrera in second place and the FDM (Denmark) team, Mads Hanfgarn and Jan Madsen in third place. These teams scored the highest points in the assessments during the training. This year also marks the first time that a patrolwoman, Leonie Tieber, is part of the winning team.

The FIA Region I President, Jorge F. Delgado, who was present at the event said, “The Road Patrol Training for Excellence was created to bring roadside assistance to the next level by identifying the best of the best road patrol teams across Europe, and then training them on the latest solutions and technologies. This is to both deliver the best services even in the most complicated circumstances and to secure the deployment of such skillset across the different Clubs in Europe.”

The training aims to ensure high-quality services in roadside assistance among member organizations. Participants benefit from technical training and assessment on different types of vehicles, including electric vehicles.

The President of AMZS, Andrej Brglez, expressed his honour and pride to have hosted the best mechanics from partner automobile and mobility Clubs who help their members and other road users in times of need and urgency. He emphasized the importance of such events in upgrading the skills of our roadside assistance mechanics and based on what he witnessed during the Road Patrol Training for Excellence, he was pleased that members of AMZS are in good hands both in Slovenia and abroad.

This year, trainers came from ANWB (The Netherlands), Touring (Belgium) and AMZS (Slovenia).
