ETEC 2026 brings road safety education to children across Europe

    29 October 2026

The 39th European Traffic Education Contest (ETEC) brought together 17 teams from 16 countries in Náchod, Czech Republic, from 10 to 13 September. The event was kindly hosted by the Autoclub of the Czech Republic (ACCR).

ETEC gives children the opportunity to learn about road safety in a practical and engaging way. By simulating real-life situations they may encounter on the road, they learn to recognise risks and understand how to react safely – lessons that can stay with them throughout their lives.

After putting their knowledge to the test, the team from the Auto-Moto Association of Serbia (AMSS) took first place, followed by the Latvian Automotive Club (LAMB) and the Czech team from UAMK. The results were announced at the closing ceremony, where Mr Jan Šťovíček, President of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic, addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of helping children become safer and more confident road users.

His words reflected the purpose of the programme and the commitment of the Clubs behind it: the European final is the culmination of a much wider effort. Throughout the year, FIA Region I Member Clubs organise national and regional competitions, reaching thousands of children and giving them the opportunity to learn about road safety. ETEC provides a European platform for this ongoing work and for the Clubs’ commitment to promoting safer behaviour among young road users.

FIA Region I warmly thanks the Autoclub of the Czech Republic (ACCR) for hosting this year’s contest and supporting its road safety mission. Our thanks also go to the members of the Technical Committee and to their Clubs – ADAC, AMSCG, BIHAMK, ÖAMTC and TCS – for their expertise and continued support in making ETEC possible across Europe.

ETEC receives financial support from the FIA Foundation and the FIA Safe & Sustainable Mobility grants programme. For more information about ETEC, please visit this page.
