Club news: UAB launches #3500LIVES campaign for 2018

    15 May 2018

Union des Automobilistes Bulgares (UAB) will commemorate the #3500LIVES campaign in Bulgaria with the “Day of free services” to promote road safety. The event will provide all drivers a day with free technical check-ups of their vehicles, including lights, tires, brakes, suspension etc. During the check-up, drivers have the opportunity to receive thorough advice for safe and economical driving. Official car importers, and UAB partners, will provide their newest models for a free test drive, promoting active safety vehicle technologies among visitors.

Bulgaria has the highest number of road fatalities per million citizens in the EU. In 2017, there were 6,888 serious road accidents reported, where 682 people lost their lives and 8,680 were severely injured. The main cause of fatalities in 95% of the serious road accidents were traffic violations by drivers.

“For UAB, these tragic statistics clearly show that road safety is an urgent priority. By standing strong together, we will reduce these tragedies for everyone. Through campaigns such as ‘3500 LIVES’, the ‘Best young driver of Bulgaria’, the annual winter campaign and with the help from our partners, we will improve road safety in the country,” said Emil Panchev, UAB President.
