Club news: Raising awareness for mileage fraud in the UK

    24 March 2014

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) highlighted the ‘invisible crime’, raising awareness of this common scam.

IAM warned that, throughout Europe, mileage fraud is costing motorists thousands of Euros. Most of the time, consumers are not even aware that they have been cheated because the mileage history of used cars is almost untraceable. They also mentioned the FIA Region I event in Brussels where ordinary members of the public were able to adjust the mileage of three of the most common cars available on the market cars using devices costing as little as £150 that are available on the internet.
