UAB Bulgaria concluded its Republican Championship for young cyclists on 24 June in the Northeastern town of Dobrich. The two-day event was part of six competitions held throughout the country under the FIA Region I’s traffic education contest rules. Four competitions were held for children aged between 10 and 12 years of age, and two competitions for teenagers until the age of 15.
The championship turned out to be a challenge for both newcomers and skilled participants, with new theoretical exams created and practical exercises made even more difficult. There were tears of joy and sorrow, as the competitive spirit was higher than ever. Marina Tancheva, who took part in UAB’s team at the 2022 European Traffic Education Contest (ETEC), proved to be the favourite in the teenager category and won both competitions in the girls category.
In the age group up to 12 years of age, the battle for first places both among boys and girls was intense with no clear favourites until the end. The best among them are going to take part in UAB’s training camp in mid-August when the four best boys and girls will be chosen to represent Bulgaria at this year’s ETEC in Montenegro, from 22 to 25 September.
