In its newly released position paper, FIA Region I confirms its support for the deployment of alternative fuels vehicles and calls for measures to ensure motorists maintain the same level of comfort and convenience as they do with traditional vehicles.

Although some measures have been taken across Europe to support the uptake of AFVs, the continued growth and development of new technologies and fuels inevitably requires further actions and new legislative measures. Motorists should have easy access to information about the location, condition, operation and availability of charging stations and should receive better information on vehicle costs and emissions performance at the point of sale.

Against this background, we are pleased the Commission is planning to review the Directive on Alternative Fuels Infrastructure: we will work to ensure motorist needs are heard.
