FIA Region I leads the first L3Pilot webinar on automated driving

    11 June 2020

On 9 June 2020, FIA Region I led the first webinar in the L3Pilot coffee break series on business models for automated driving in 2030.

The webinar introduced the analysis of a Robo-taxi business model conducted in L3Pilot, focussing on the value delivered by a network of actors to the user. The webinar highlighted the central challenges that need to be overcome in the coming decade in order to enable a Robo-taxi service, such as user acceptance, required C-ITS infrastructure, massive initial investments and legal uncertainty. Most participants agreed that the business model is desirable but saw challenges ahead for its viability and feasibility.

The L3Pilot Coffee Break Series will feature three more business models: In-Car Services, a Data+ Platform, and Mobility as a Service (MaaS). You can find more information here.

L3Pilot is the European flagship research project for large-scale piloting of SAE Level 3 and Level 4 functions and exploring new service concepts and business models to provide inclusive mobility. FIA Region I contributes to the user evaluation in the project, as well as the analysis of future business models for automated driving and the dissemination of project results.
