Club news: AMAK welcomes State Programme on Road Safety for 2019-2023

    21 January 2019

On 27 December 2018, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan approved the State Programme on Road Safety for 2019-2023, which proposes measures for reducing the number of traffic crashes and their socio-economic damage.

AMAK welcomes the State Programme and has expressed its willingness to support it. Realising that today public structures in the country are not sufficiently developed when it comes to road safety, AMAK wants to contribute to the success of educational and legal enforcement efforts of local government agencies.

The Club is nowadays well-recognised by the public and the private sector as an organisation committed to road safety. AMAK has been the first to actively implement road safety education and awareness campaigns to raise public attention to road risks. This also thanks to the cooperation with its international partners, such as the FIA, Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST) and the Global Alliance of the NGOs for Road Safety.

Currently, AMAK is developing advocacy programmes regarding road safety education, the use of child restraint systems and accessible mobility for people with disabilities. A fundamental part of the programme is the cooperation with key government agencies, most importantly with the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as transport agencies like State Road Police and the Ministry of Transport.
