The Middle East and North Africa region demonstrated strong participation in the “Stay Focused, Avoid Distraction” Road Safety Campaign, launched by FIA Region I across social media on 7 September, with 13 MENA Clubs joining the initiative.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of distraction while driving and encourage motorists and road users to remain focused and avoid behaviours that increase the risk of crashes, particularly the use of mobile phones behind the wheel.
Participating Clubs shared the campaign materials through their own social media platforms, extending a common road safety message to audiences across the region while benefiting from each Club’s local reach and connection with its community.
Having 13 MENA Clubs communicating the same road safety message at the same time demonstrates the growing level of regional cooperation and the ability of Member Clubs to transform FIA and FIA Region I initiatives into coordinated regional action with strong local visibility.
The campaign forms part of the wider efforts of the FIA MENA Mobility Council to strengthen cooperation between Clubs, expand their engagement in road safety initiatives and promote a stronger culture of safe and responsible driving throughout the region.
The campaign’s reach also extended beyond social media. In Tunisia, thanks to the efforts of NACT officials, the campaign was displayed during the Carthage Festival, bringing its road safety message directly to an audience of more than 10,000 people. This provided valuable additional visibility for the initiative and demonstrated how Clubs can take a regional campaign beyond digital platforms and engage the wider public.
