The European Best Young Driver Contest 2025 will take place in Sarajevo – Bosnia and Herzegovina from 10 to 12 October kindly hosted by BIHAMK.

Developed from a concept first introduced nationally by AMZS (Slovenia) in 2017, the FIA Region I International Best Young Driver Contest is an initiative to raise awareness on road safety among young drivers and to put forward the message that young drivers can drive responsibly, safely and they can set a good example to both their peers and adults.

The event is designed for young drivers between 18 and 26 years old, be holder of valid driving license for category B. The contest tests drivers’ skills that are essential to be a good driver, not only behind the wheel, but also in real-life circumstances, first aid, their knowledge of traffic rules, road safety and vehicles.

    ABOUT BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Bosnia and Herzegovina, situated in the heart of Southeastern Europe, is a country marked by its dramatic natural landscapes, rich multicultural heritage, and centuries-old traditions. Located at the crossroads of East and West, it offers a unique blend of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Slavic influences. With an area of approximately 51,000 km² and a population of around 3.2 million, Bosnia and Herzegovina is a relatively small country with rich diversity. The official languages are Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian, with both Latin and Cyrillic scripts used in writing.

The climate is predominantly continental, characterised by hot summers and cold, snowy winters, making it ideal for both summer hiking and winter sports. The country boasts pristine rivers, lush mountains, and national parks, making it a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Bosnia and Herzegovina is also known for its warm hospitality and distinctive cuisine featuring dishes such as ćevapi, pita, and rich Turkish-style coffee, along with excellent local wines and rakija.

Those interested in history and culture will find plenty to explore, from medieval fortresses and Ottoman mosques to Austro-Hungarian architecture and moving memorials. With its lively festivals, art galleries, and music scene, Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to captivate visitors year-round.

    ABOUT SARAJEVO

Nestled in a valley surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and split by the Miljacka River, Sarajevo is often described as the “Jerusalem of Europe” due to its centuries-long coexistence of Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The city is a living museum of history, where mosques, Orthodox and Catholic churches, and synagogues stand within minutes of each other.

Sarajevo is famous for its rich cultural and historical layers, best experienced in the old town, Baščaršija, where cobblestone streets lead past bustling markets, Ottoman-era inns, and traditional cafés. The city also hosts several important museums, including the Sarajevo War Childhood Museum, the Museum of Sarajevo 1878–1918, and the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Modern Sarajevo is dynamic and vibrant, with a growing number of art venues, contemporary restaurants, and open-air festivals such as the renowned Sarajevo Film Festival. The city’s resilience and warmth leave a lasting impression on all who visit.
