    C-MobILE

    23 August 2017

    Summary of the project

C-MobILE (Accelerating C-ITS Mobility Innovation and depLoyment in Europe) is deploying cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) and services designed to deal with specific mobility challenges. It ensures a common approach that prioritises interoperability and seamless service availability at an acceptable cost for end-users and helps local authorities to use C-ITS services. By using eight previously researched C-ITS equipped cities, it establishes functioning partnerships, carries out cost-benefit analyses and developing business models, particularly from the end-user’s perspective.

C-MobILE (Accelerating C-ITS Mobility Innovation and depLoyment in Europe) is deploying C-ITS services designed to deal with specific mobility challenges across Europe. The project also aims to help local authorities deploy the C-ITS services they need and to raise awareness of the potential benefits for all road users.

A total of eight C-ITS equipped cities and regions are involved in the project, all of which have been research pilot sites for large-scale deployment of sustainable services in the past. This common approach ensures that interoperability and seamless service availability are prioritised and at an acceptable cost for end-users.

    Project objectives

    • Improving road transport, making it safer, more efficient and sustainable through cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS)
    • Demonstrating fully integrated C-ITS technologies in real-world conditions
    • Demonstrating the added-value and economic viability of C-ITS services for users
    • Assessing and evaluating impacts on user acceptance, safety and security

FIA Region I’s role in the project

FIA Region I is involved in the definition of needs and requirements for implementation, validation and impact assessment as well as the dissemination of project outcomes. It leads the liaison activities of C-MobILE through several channels and tools (events, webinars, social media) and is responsible for identifying activities, projects and stakeholder groups to involve in the project.

Link with FIA Region I Policy Priorities

Connecting Vehicles: By being involved in this project, the FIA Region I helps improve mobility through C-ITS services and show the importance of this technology to road users.

Protecting the environment: Through this project the FIA Region I contributes to developing mobility solutions that increase sustainability.
