Since its establishment in 1924, the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club has played an active role in Egypt’s automotive sector. Alongside the travel services it provides to international visitors arriving in Egypt, the Club has been involved in motorsport, while its role as a member of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has expanded to include tourism, mobility and road safety.

Touring activities by car and motorcycle are among the Club’s key initiatives, combining the promotion of Egypt’s tourism destinations with raising awareness of safe and responsible driving.

One of the most prominent examples is the “Live Sinai” initiative, which has been organized over several editions with Egyptian and international participation. Its routes have covered destinations including Ras Sudr, Abu Zenima, Abu Rudeis, Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh, bringing together motorcycles, cars and four wheel drive vehicles.

The Club has also supported a number of motorcycle tours and rallies across different Egyptian governorates, helping promote tourism destinations throughout the country.

Journeys Beyond Borders

The Club’s activities also extend to international motoring tourism. Among the notable examples are road trips between Egypt and Jordan, travelling through Sinai, Nuweiba and Aqaba and visiting destinations such as Wadi Rum, Petra, the Dead Sea and Amman.

These journeys combine motoring tourism with cooperation between automobile clubs in different countries and facilitate the movement of vehicles and travellers across borders. This role is further supported by the Club’s international mobility services, particularly International Driving Permits (IDPs) and Carnets de Passages en Douane (CPDs).

Car Culture and Road Safety

Modified car events and gatherings related to automotive culture provide an important opportunity for the Club to engage with young people and promote the responsible use of vehicles, compliance with safety requirements, and the importance of conducting automotive activities and demonstrations in designated areas away from public roads.

The Club also supports historic and classic vehicles through events and gatherings that combine the preservation of automotive heritage with tourism and cultural promotion.

Together, these activities reflect the continued role of the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club in supporting tourism and safe mobility, promoting responsible road use, and connecting Egypt with regional and international motoring and tourism.
