Club News: SVMC investigates the most efficient way to commute in Sweden

Publication date: 30 September 2014

On 9 August, the Swedish Motorcycling Club, SVMC, tested the speed and cost effectiveness of different transport modes in and around Stockholm.

The Club compared of a moped at 45km/h, a motorcycle, another moped at 25 km/h, a car and public transport (train). The distance travelled was between 18-22 km, with a slightly longer distance for mopeds.

The motorcycle proved to be the fastest mean of transportation with the time of 39 minutes to the destination. A commuter would save 23 minutes and €30 for parking and congestion taxes per day by choosing a motorcycle instead of a car.

The test was organised by the Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Association (FEMA) and took place in 15 European cities.
