Publication date: 21 March 2016

On 17-18 February, the Sixth International Conference on Reducing Traffic Accidents took place  in Shiraz, Iran to discuss the design of safe urban spaces for elderly people, preventative measures against traffic accidents involving elderly citizens, rehabilitation in case of injury as well as the mental health of senior pedestrians who experience road accidents.

The Touring and Automobile Club of Iran (TACI) was represented at the event by Hosseinali Gholizadeh, who spoke on the topic of elderly drivers’ self-perception regarding safety on the road. He talked about recent research findings which show that elderly people do no tend to see themselves as more at risk than other participants in traffic when crossing the street.
