Club news: OAMTC awards best in class cars for 2014

Publication date: 25 February 2015

On 20 February 2015, the ÖAMTC presented the Marcus Award to 13 vehicles that were put on the Austrian market in 2014. Unlike the years before, the ÖAMTC did not hold a people’s choice award. According to a survey carried out by the ÖAMTC, the most important reasons for people to decide for or against a certain car are safety and cost effectiveness, as a result a new award for safety was added this year.

This year’s Marcus award for “Cost Effectiveness”, for the vehicle with the lowest monthly running costs, was awarded to the Citroën C4 Cactus 1.2 VTI82 Live.

In the category “Safety”, the BMW 2 Series Coupe took the win in the compact category. The award evaluates the equipment of safety features like ESP, warning systems for safety belts, airbags, pedestrian detection or Blind Spot Assist.

The “Wegweiser” or Guidepost award is given to the car with the most forward-looking technology and was awarded to the Audi A3 e-tron.
