Club News: From February, car owners must take responsibility for speeding in Denmark, regardless of who was behind the wheel

On 1 February, new rules about responsibility for speeding will be adopted in Denmark, reports the Danish Automobile Club, FDM. The rules state that, for speeding tickets up to 30% higher than the speed limit, the car owner is held responsible for paying the fine, regardless of who was driving the car.

Until now, it was the police’s responsibility to discover the driver of the vehicle, but from February this responsibility will be shifted to the driver. The car owner must get the culprit to admit the offense to the police and pay the fine otherwise he/she will be held responsible.
