Club news: MEMSI continues road safety activities for children in Israel

Publication date: 20 August 2015

Within the Automobile and Touring Club of Israel's (MEMSI) Road Safety Activities for Children, Israeli children have created their own Golden Rules for road safety. Starting with the 10 Golden Rules from the FIA’s Action for Road Safety, the children were asked to adapt the relevant safety rules to suit pedestrians and children.

After all the groups created their suggestions, a vote was held, and eight rules were chosen, produced and printed. Those brochures have been given to hundreds of elementary school children in Israel.

Getting children involved in the project contributes in two very important ways:

  • Children learn how to be safer on the road

  • Children affect others around them – peers and adults –promoting road safety and raising awareness
