Club News: Latvia improves road safety with “Drive Safely!” campaign

Publication date: 29 October 2014

From 19 September to 26 October 2014, Latvian Club LAMB carried out a road safety campaign “Drive Safely!”.

The campaign intended to inform drivers about the overall traffic safety and the importance of the technical maintenance of the car.

During the campaign shopping centers offered free checks of headlights, brakes and tire pressure. More than 1,500 cars were tested and the campaign showed that more than 60% of cars had misaligned headlights and approximately 12% were in need of mechanical assistance. The campaign was carried out with support from the FIA Road Safety Grant and Michelin.

"Together with the FIA and Michelin [we] have made a major contribution strengthening road safety in Latvia. The 10 Golden Rules are very important this year, when our country for the first time in 12 years, has increased the number of fatalities on the roads, especially at night," said LAMB President Juris Zvirbulis.
