Kick off of the MaaS Alliance
Publication date: 08 June 2016
On 3 June 2016, the Mobility as a Service Alliance has been officially established in Brussels, with its first official meeting taking place in Glasgow 6 June as part of the ITS Europe conference.
Jacob Bangsgaard, President of the Mobility as a Service Alliance and FIA Region I Director General, said: “Last October, we felt that the time was right to support the practical implementation of Mobility as a Service at the European level by joining forces among stakeholders. Consumers are ready for it, and it is now up to us to create the right conditions to meet the demand for high-quality, easy-to-access and integrated mobility solutions. Based on the international network within the Alliance, we have the necessary partnerships to realise this goal.”
Founding members of the MaaS Alliance include: the Finnish Ministry of Transport; ERTICO – ITS Europe; ACEA; IRU; FIA; Cubic; MaaS Global; RACC; Siemens; Xerox; and an additional eight representatives from public authorities, transport companies and organisations.
Four working groups has been created to define the activities of the MaaS Alliance (Single market, End user perspective, Legal framework, and Technical).

About the MaaS Alliance
The Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Alliance is a public-private partnership managed by ERTICO – ITS Europe creating the foundations for a common approach to MaaS, unlocking the economies of scale needed for successful implementation and take-up of MaaS in Europe and beyond.
MaaS fulfils users’ needs for mobility with a wide range of transport services for both travellers and goods, offering tailor-made transport on demand. To meet a customer’s needs, a MaaS service provider arranges the most suitable transport means, be it public transport, taxi or car rental, or ride-, car- or bike-sharing. http://maas-alliance.eu/
