Club news: VR Bike makes an impact at Rome Motor Show 2017

Publication date: 03 August 2017

The Automobile Club d´Italia (ACI) took the FIA Region I virtual reality bicycle simulator to the public during the Rome Motor Show 2017. Hundreds of children and their families tested the virtual reality tool as a complement to the road safety sessions by trainers from the Automobile Club Roma.

Bringing the VR bicycle simulator to the Motor Show was a chance for the Club to encourage children to learn how to ride safely on urban roads. The Club used the simulator to increase effectiveness of road safety messages and public awareness of the risks on the road for children.

Road safety is an issue of greatest concern to ACI because of the risks involved for vulnerable users, in particular children in urban areas. Every year, through school programs or events, thousands of children are trained on road safety rules and on how to use bicycles or cross the road at pedestrian crossings.
