Club news: Denmark ranks highly as a tourist destination in information and communication technologies
Publication date: 27 May 2015
Denmark was recently ranked in 27th place in a survey by the World Economic Forum on the most tourism ready economies. The Danish Motor Club FDM promotes tourism in Denmark and notes that the country scored highest on information and communication technologies. "Today you can for example book a ticket to the main attractions at home, so you do not waste time standing in line. In addition, the technology will help to make it easier to offer audio guides in many more languages, so there has clearly been progress in recent years, " said Jan Lokhart Managing Director of FDM travel.
The report compares travel and tourism competitiveness in 141 countries, with Spain ranked as the top most tourism ready economy. FDM Travel has several travel destinations in Spain. "The report suggests, among other things, that the winner Spain gets top marks when it comes to culture, thanks to the beautiful heritage of the country. Spain also scores high on entertainment, restaurants, nightlife and attractions. It is also something the Danish travelers highlight when they have to explain why Spain is their 'favorite destination’," says Jan Lokhart.
The report also looks at infrastructure, including roads, railways and flight connections. United States is 4th in overall result, and both the US and Canada score high when it comes to flight connections. The Netherlands and Germany are top scorers in road infrastructure.
