Club news: Construction of the new ÖAMTC headquarters begins

Publication date: 09 June 2015

On 13 May, the Austrian Automobile Club ÖAMTC held the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Club headquarters. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Vienna Maria Vassilakou, ÖAMTC President Werner Kraus, ÖAMTC CEO Oliver Schmerold, as well as representatives of the architect bureau and construction company. A time capsule was filled with the May issue of ÖAMTC Club magazine, a model of the emergency rescue helicopter, coins, current newspapers and the building’s blueprints, and it was placed in the foundation of the new building.

The new headquarters, expected to be finished by the end of 2016, was designed by Pichler & Traupmann architect bureau, and it will be located in the 3rd district of Vienna. Currently ÖAMTC has five different offices in Vienna that will be moved into the new building, in order to ensure efficient administration and communication. The new headquarters will have a technical site on the ground floor offering members the usual range of services. On the top of the building will be a landing site and a hangar for ÖAMTC emergency rescue helicopters. Other levels will accommodate all ÖAMTC offices, departments and branches.
