Club news: ATCUAE initiates implementation of the TIR system in the UAE

Publication date: 20 April 2016

The Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE has signed a bilateral agreement with the Federal Customs Authority (FCA) for the implementation of a International Road Transport (TIR) system in the United Arab Emirates. This step comes after the Club signed Guarantee Agreements with all local customs departments in the country. The bilateral agreement aims to regulate transportation policies for goods; to facilitate international road transport operation; as well as to simplify customs procedures during transit. It has the potential to greatly enhance the effectiveness of international trade in the region.

The development was welcomed both by ATCUAE’s President Mr. Ben Sulayem as well as the FCA’s Director-General as an essential step towards enhancing the customs system in the country and promoting the highest international standards locally.
