Club news: ADAC celebrates 20 years of its Landsberg testing centre

Publication date: 22 May 2017

On 25 April, Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V. (ADAC) celebrated the 20th anniversary of its technical testing facility in Landsberg. As part of the celebrations, thirty media representatives were invited to witness the live demonstration of a VW Golf crash test.

The Club looked back on 20 years of testing activities in Landsberg which included the testing of 2,744 cars, 900 vehicles crash-tests, 4,100 child restraint systems and 40,000 tire tests. Landsberg test results have formed the basis of the well-known ADAC Eco-Test and Euro NCAP start ratings.

As the central testing facility for European Automobile Clubs, the ADAC technical centre is the premier location for competent evaluations and methodical tests in the area of mobility, safety and consumer protection. Landsberg has also been home to the ADAC southern roadside assistance centre with a road patrol base and the road patrol fleet management unit for 20 years. This makes it virtually the backbone of ADAC roadside assistance.
