Club news: ACR celebrates its 112th anniversary

On 5 April 2016, Automobil Clubul Roman (ACR) celebrated its 112th anniversary. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Prince George Valentin Bibesc, ACR was one of the first European Automobile Clubs to be founded and 14th in the world.

Over the years, ACR has organised thousands of motorsport competitions, like the Bucharest Ring, which isa part of the FIA GT Championship.

With ACR’s assistance, tens of thousands of car drivers have visited and toured many countries in Europe.

In recent years, ACR has been a key proponent of road safety in Romania and rolled out road safety campaigns such as #seatbeltb00bing, the safety on board card, Think Bikes, and the “Street View Test”. For its campaigns, ACR received numerous awards, among others the FIA Region I Innovation Award, European Commission’s award for Road Safety Excellence and the Cannes Lion Award.
