Club news: a Safe Road to School with BIHAMK

Publication date: 16 November 2016

From mid-October to early-November, Bosnia and Herzegovina Automobile Club (BIHAMK) launched road safety campaign named A Safe Road to School, which included the promotion of FIA Region I’s Stay Bright campaign.

This campaign was directed at 6-to-10-year-old children in Bosnia and Herzegovina and involved several important educational activities:

  • short, age-appropriate lectures on the correct road safety behaviour with a special focus on increased visibility

  • dissemination of reflective bracelets and colouring books about basic road rules

  • a Stay Bright learn & play Workshop during which children had fun in finding the best way to decorate their school backpacks with reflective stripes to help them stay visible while walking near dangerous and unprotected roads

The campaign reached around 5,000 school children from more than 40 primary schools from different, mainly rural, regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina ended on 05 November. The campaign aimed to draw public attention to the extent of vulnerability of school children in road traffic.
