Club news: ATCUAE examines the future of international driving documents at FIA Region II event

Publication date: 18 July 2017

Experts from the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) have recently participated at the FIA Region II “International Documents Workshop” in Singapore. They shared their digital marketing experience in promoting the new version of the International Driving License with colleagues from more than 16 countries. Dr. Sean O’Connor, Director of Strategy at ATCUAE and Digital Consultant, Killian Kavanagh, presented the Club’s latest efforts in promoting the new version of the IDL, issued by the ATCUAE. The FIA-backed pilot for a new improved format IDL has been issued in the UAE since March by ACTUAE and has so far generated strong consumer backing.

The FIA Region II Inaugural International Documents Workshop was held over two to better understand the reform changes and discuss how FIA Clubs can work collaboratively to promote the sale of IDPs and CPDs in their countries and across the region. More than 30 delegates from across South East Asia gathered to learn about new security features to be included in documents (such as holograms and a QR Code), the development by the International Standards Organisation of the new IDP Booklet and the international digital campaign that is underway to counter the many fraudulent websites purportedly selling IDPs.
