Club news: ANWB driver academy unveils new car

Publication date: 26 January 2016

After a strong growth last year, the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB) looked to change the type of car used for the driving lessons at the ANWB driver academy. A survey of their members showed that the main target group, young adults, preferred a larger type of car than the current model, a VW Polo. Eventually, the Club selected the VW Golf 7 as this model has been chosen by the magazine for driving schools as the best instructional car type for the two years running.

The new fleet opened the opportunity for a new advertising sticker design: the old design was considered dull by the target group. Four designs were proposed to 200 young members, and 90% wanted to drive in the final design. The new car was unveiled at the ANWB head office last week: 350 vehicles will give the novice drivers and their instructors more space, more power and will provide ANWB with driving billboards for the coming years. All vehicles will be replaced by the end of 2017.
