Club news: AMSM celebrates International Women’s Day with road safety debate

Publication date: 15 March 2017

This year Avto-Moto Sojuz Na Makedonija’s (AMSM) annual International Woman’s Day road safety debate topic was “The impact of weather conditions on road safety“. The topic was inspired by the extreme weather conditions experienced in FYROM last year, including storms, heavy rains, floods on the roads, snow drifts and extremely high temperatures during the summer.

The debate gathered together a variety of different speakers with an expertise in road safety and weather conditions in order to increase awareness of the appropriate preparation and behaviour when traveling and driving in extreme weather conditions. The debate was supported by public figures as well, such as the famous journalists Ms. Lejla Sabit and the show host Ms.Bojana Skenderovski.

Irena Minovska-Pehlivanova, AMSM Strategic Manager, said: “This year’s debate is inspired by the extreme weather conditions we experienced in the last few years, that made not only material destruction, but unfortunately took human lives on the roads as well. We believe that with this debate we will manage to increase the awareness of driving and travelling in extreme weather conditions.”

Over 60 women attended and contributed to the debate, and 1,000 people watched the debate live streaming on Facebook. The debate was reported in most national media, woman’s magazine and websites.
