Club news: ACP warns drivers “Don’t fall asleep behind the wheel!”

Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) and Portuguese pop stars D.A.M.A. teamed up again to launch a new road safety campaign that simulates what happens when drivers fall asleep behind the wheel. The campaign was specially focus on young drivers.

The video at the heart of the campaign was filmed in Lisbon during the Euro 2016. The electricity was suddenly cut in restrooms to recreate the feeling of falling asleep while driving. Images rolled on a screen in the restroom and at the end the message of the song is heard: If you fall asleep at the wheel, you will not wake up again.

One out of three fatal car crash victims were found to have a blood alcohol concentration. Falling asleep is one of the most dangerous consequences of drinking and driving. This is particularly a concern over the holiday period
