Club news: ACI commits to sustainable mobility

Publication date: 05 November 2015

A new safe driving method for electric vehicles was launched at the recently opened Automobile Club d´Italia (ACI) safe driving centre in Arese, close to Milan. The project has been undertaken in cooperation with Mercedes within the “#IoSonoElettrica” (“I am electric”) tour.

The method includes four tests by professional trainers from the ACI Safe Driving Centres. The results are to be used to assess and compare the motor vehicle (both the electric and the traditional version) in terms of safety and eco-driving.

On the occasion of the launch Enrico Pagliari, ACI's Coordinator of the Technical Area, stated: “E-vehicles are perfectly the same as traditionally fuelled ones, however suitable driving techniques would improve their use and autonomy”.

Assessments will be made in line with EuroNCAP tests, based on a five star ranking system; five stars meaning top rating. ACI is also planning to include safe eco-driving courses among the courses already provided at the Vallelunga - close to Rome - and Arese safe driving centres.
