Club news: ACA brings road safety education to children

Publication date: 15 December 2015

The Automobile Club Albania (ACA) aimed to tackle road safety education for children. In 2015, the Club delivered the messages to children with a strong campaign, which included the broadcasting of the road safety series “Green Light” on national TV; special projects in schools; participating at the ETEC contest; and an agreement with the Ministry of Education to introduce this programme in the education process of 80 public schools in Tirana and Durrës. This is a first step towards the use of this film in schools and kindergartens, all over the country.

Historically, in Albania the ownership of a private car was prohibited. This has resulted in a strong disregard for road safety rules by pedestrians. Parents tend to pass on poor habits to their children, resulting in less respect for road safety rules. Through educating children, the ACA hopes to also reach the parents as well. ACA received a grant from the FIA Road Safety Grant Programme.
