Club news: 30th Anniversary of Swedish motorcycle festival Mälaren Runt draws record crowd

Publication date: 20 August 2015

On 15 August, Sveriges MotorCyklister (SMC) organised the Mälaren Runt, a motorcycle course and festival for Swedish riders. The 30th Anniversary was a huge success and attracted 25,000 riders.

Thousands of riders came for the start in Solna to experience the feeling when bikers ride together. After the start there was a long line of motorcycles going the 258 kilometre long road around the lake Mälaren. Many riders choose to join the ride at different spots.

All along the route, except on motorways, there were spectators enjoying the event. Stops along the way included a market place at a motorcycle track. There were outdoor movies, live music, food and drinks, retailers, shows and much more. The area was packed with bikes during the event. The official goal was at the Motorcycle Enthusiasts’ clubhouse north of Stockholm. All riders who did the entire lap stopped there for some food and drinks, massage and a live concert.

Mälaren Runt is an event that started 1985 by the motorcycle magazine MCM. SMC took over the event from 2015 and this year was a perfect start. The date of Mälaren Runt is always the third Saturday of August; motorcyclists are welcome to next year’s event on 18 August 2016 in Sweden!
