Developing safe, efficient, connected mobility

Published on: 28 November 2013

On 27 November 2013, FIA Region I held a high level debate with EU Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas, FIA President Jean Todt and key stakeholders on the future challenges of the connected vehicle, addressing both the associated road safety benefits and the added-value services such technologies will bring to users.

The connected car can provide drivers with access to extensive information about congestion, accidents, road conditions, road works, weather changes and upcoming hazards. It will enable vehicles to communicate with each other and provide warnings on factors such as unsafe lane encroachment or impending collisions. Connectivity will also allow sensors in the infrastructure to regulate traffic according to specific conditions. This event was partially funded by eSafetyAware.
