European Parliament: First meetings of new committees

Publication date: 29 July 2004

The European Parliamentary committees met the first time this week (26-28th July 2004) following their reconfiguration and appointment of members last week in Strasbourg.

The portfolios of the 20 committees have been revised in some instances. The Transport and Tourism Committee no longer deals with Regional Development, now a separate Committee. Legal Affairs is a separate Committee from Internal Market which will now be dealt together with Consumer Protection, while Environment remains together with Public Health and Food Protection. The Industry Committee will also deal with research and energy.
