EU eco-innovation funding for 2009 up for grabs
Publication date: 22 April 2009
The European Commission has announced around €30m funding for eco-innovation projects aimed at reducing the European industry's ecological footprint project under the EU's competitiveness and innovation programme (CIP)
Speaking in Brussels on Monday at the launch at this year's call for proposals, commission official Timo Makela told businesses there remained a gap between the number of environmental technologies being developed and those currently available on the market. He confirmed a forthcoming review of the EU's green technologies action plan (Etap).
Last year 40 projects were selected out of more than 140 proposals to share €28 million in investment capital. The bulk of the projects pertained to recycling but other major categories focused on the food and drink, green purchasing, and building sectors.
