The Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC) formally became a sub-region of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Region I in early 2009. The goal of ACTAC is to unite the Arabic speaking FIA clubs of the region to shape the future of motoring throughout the Arab world.
The first ever book examining the burgeoning growth of sport management in the Middle East has been launched by His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE National Transport Authority today signed a landmark agreement with the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE aimed at simplifying and speeding up customs procedures at border crossing for motorists and truck operators, while steering travellers away from trouble when driving overseas.
On 5 February, the first ACTAC Management Workshop was hosted by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation. Representatives from 22 ACTAC Clubs were present, as well as FIA President Jean Todt, FIA Region I President Werner Kraus, and ACTAC Chairman Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
